Automobiles in German City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers mentioned they were notified by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then found multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the public for tips.

A high-ranking representative commented the incident rendered him stunned and required to be solved promptly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
