Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former coach Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since March of the previous year.

The win also means the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent outbursts on court had caused commentators to question if his skill to play at the top level was finished.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an better serving game.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional victory, took control to push for a decider.

The opponent defended four early opportunities in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
